M42 announces clinical study to evaluate precision nutrition for GLP-1 users

M42's IROS collaborates with 10XREVIV to research the role of precision nutrition in supporting the health of patients on GLP-1 therapies.

What happened?

M42's Insights Research Organization and Solutions (IROS) and 10XREVIV announced a clinical study to evaluate 10XREVIV's precision nutrition system. The study will compare this system against standard care to assess nutritional status, body composition, and patient-reported outcomes such as fatigue, quality of life, and adherence.

Why does it matter?

As GLP-1 therapy use for weight management grows, patients face challenges meeting nutritional needs due to reduced appetite and gastrointestinal side effects. This study aims to build clinical evidence on how precision nutrition can support these patients, potentially informing more integrated care approaches.

My perspective

This initiative is a significant step for Abu Dhabi's clinical research ecosystem. By combining IROS's expertise in clinical design with 10XREVIV's technology, the study aims to provide measurable data beyond weight loss, which could guide future clinical practices in the UAE and beyond.

Scope and availability

The study focuses on patients receiving GLP-1 therapies and precision nutrition. Data regarding usage prevalence and nutritional deficiencies are based on cited US reports and studies.

Three executive questions

  1. What specific criteria will be used to compare the 10XREVIV system against standard care?
  2. How will the study's findings influence clinical practices within the UAE?
  3. What mechanisms will the study use to evaluate outcomes related to quality of life and treatment adherence?
