Mastercard Max Turns Card Benefits into an On-Demand Assistant

The AI-powered assistant displays the right benefit within the issuing bank's channel.

What happened?

Mastercard introduced Mastercard Max to help cardholders discover, understand, and use their benefits in the right context. The launch begins with C6 Bank in Brazil via the bank's direct channel.

Why does it matter?

Much of the value in loyalty programs is lost because customers don't know about benefits or remember them too late. Moving discovery to the point of purchase may increase usage, but requires precise tuning of personalization and consent.

My perspective

I think the real test is whether the assistant helps the customer take a useful step without turning every interaction into an additional marketing message.

Scope and availability

The initial launch is limited to specific partners and markets and does not mean the service is available to all banks or cards.

Three executive questions

  1. What data is used to determine the appropriate benefit?
  2. How can the customer stop or adjust personalization?
  3. Is success measured by usage or actual customer value?
